The Democratic Alliance (DA), South Africa's second largest political party, has outlined its key policy positions ahead of the 2024 general elections. In a series of speeches delivered at the party's national policy conference in Johannesburg, DA leader John Steenhuisen, along with key members including Siviwe Gwarube, Annelie Lotriet, and Cathy Labuschagne highlighted the party's priorities.

Steenhuisen emphasized the need for a "smart state" that is efficient, responsive, and accountable. He stressed the importance of good governance, rule of law, and economic growth.

Gwarube, the party's Shadow Minister of Justice, called for a "justice system that works for all." She pledged to fight corruption, reform the criminal justice system, and protect human rights.

Lotriet, the party's Shadow Minister of Agriculture, focused on the need for "food security for all." She proposed policies to support small-scale farmers, create jobs, and increase agricultural production.

Labuschagne, the party's Shadow Minister of Education, emphasized the importance of "quality education for all." She presented plans to improve teacher training, provide more resources to schools, and focus on early childhood development.
