Early Life and Education

Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. was born on November 20, 1942, in Scranton, Pennsylvania. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 1968 and a Juris Doctor degree from Syracuse University College of Law in 1969.

Political Career

Biden's political career began with his election to New Castle County Council in 1970. In 1972, he was elected to the United States Senate from Delaware, becoming the sixth youngest senator in American history.

As a Senator, Biden played a prominent role in various committees, including the Judiciary Committee, the Foreign Relations Committee, and the Finance Committee. He also served as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee from 1987 to 1995.

In 2008, Biden was elected as the 47th Vice President of the United States under President Barack Obama. He served in that role for two terms, from 2009 to 2017.

In 2020, Biden ran for president and defeated incumbent Donald Trump. He was sworn in as the 46th President of the United States on January 20, 2021.

As President, Biden has focused on addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, economic recovery, and climate change.
